Frinton-on-Sea is a small seaside town in
Essex, a good place to visit from Colchester.
With a population of nearly 5,500 people, there is a small
town situated on seaside in Tendring district of Essex called
Frinton-on-sea. Actually Frinton church and a few
cottages in late Victorian times. There were several
farms nearby the church. Peter Bruff in 1890 originally
developed it into a town. Till the first half of 20th
century many high profile visitors came to this town. They
were attracted to the beauty of the town because of palm trees,
shopping place called Connaught Avenue, high-class hotels and
its tennis tournament is after thwe
famous Wimbledon. All these attractions made the town
popular.
Till now Frinton-on-Sea has a conservative
nature. There were no pubs until first was opened in 2000. This
small town has also been the subject in BBC Wonderland in 2008.
It’s a documentary program in which Frinton was highlighted
because of its campaign of saving its Railway gates and number
of old people living there.
There are three ways of entering Frinton from road:
1. From Walton-on-the-Naze, its an unadopted road in the
north.
2.There is a residential road also
2. Railway level crossing is the normal wat
of entering Frinton.
Frinton is situated on seashore and beach is longer then a
mile. Sea here is suitable for swimming and sailing. Visitors
also do windsurfing in the sea. There are several beach-huts
lined on the sea-shore
If you talk about the culture and religion of the town then I
must say that its culture is very rich and people are very
religious. There are many churches in the town. There are two
Anglican parish churches, a Methodist church, a free church and
a Roman Catholic Church. There is also one day school founded
by the convent of nuns. Children from age of 4-11 years study
there.
Frinton-on-sea is a town of people having ancient heritage
and rich culture.
It is part of the Frinton and Walton parish. With a
reputation as an exclusive resort, Frinton retains an
atmosphere of the 1920s and 30s. Tree-lined residential avenues
sweep down to the elegant Esplanade and cliff-top greensward.
The whole area was later purchased by a developer with a view
to building an exclusive seaside town for a quiet place with
sands and some wonderful art deco buildings. Small
shops and restaurants in tree-lined The main shopping street
Connaught Avenue has been dubbed the "Bond Street" of East
Anglia that runs from The Gates to the sea, it didn't get a pub
until 2000. Frinton was the last target in England to be
attacked by the Luftwaffe, in 1944
Frinton only has two points of entry by road, one being an
unadopted road coming from Walton-on-Naze in the north and the
other being the manually-operated railway gates at the level
crossing of the town's railway station, living inside "The
Gates" is more exclusive than outside. Once geographically
distinct, a series of housing estate now line the roads between
Frinton and its neighbours: Walton-on-Naze to the North East
and the villages of Kirby Cross and Kirby-Le-Soken to the
West.
