Colchester is one of the Britain’s first Roman cities. Its
architecture, its history is amazing. If we talk about the
places of worship in Colchester then also we can find a large
number of churches in and around Colchester. Colchester is a
town with all the amenities required for a daily normal
life.
There are many big and small churches in
Colchester where anybody can worship and offer
prayers. These churches are the main attraction for the
visitors to the city. Lets discuss about the Colchester
churches:
1. St. Peter’s church –
It is situated at the top of the North hill. Old or young,
regular or first time visitors all get a warm welcome
here. This is the place where all the Christians of the
town gather to worship Jesus Christ. In the church
Christ’s message is still looks fresh as it was 2000 years
ago.
2. St. Margaret’s church – Its main
aim is to pray god so as to enable people to meet the Christ.
They try to strengthen the faith of people into Christianity
and god. It is in Essex, South east of England. Church is
situated on Stansted road, Colchester.
3. St. James church – It
is situated at East hill, Colchester. This is one of the
best perpendicular architecture in Colchester. This church
was being found in the 12th century or earlier. This
church followed the Catholic tradition of worship.
4. St. Albright’s church – Its main aim is to grow love
for God and for all people. It is situated in Stanway,
Colchester. Here people worship since the mission of St. Cedd,
he came from Lindisfarne and builds the church at Bradwell. The
concrete building was build later.
5. Orthodox church – It is situated in Maiden burgh
street, Colchester. St. Helen’s is the only Greek Orthodox
Church in Colchester.
Apart from the above-discussed churches there are many
other churches in Essex, Colchester. The main aim of all the
churches is to believe in God and worship the god. Worship is
the only way to get the blessings of God.
